The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (SkolkovoTech) is proud to announce the creation of a Director for Faculty Affairs position and seeks outstanding candidates to fulfill this important role.

Skolkovo Tech is a new private graduate university opening in 2014, as a central element of the Skolkovo innovation ecosystem, just outside of Moscow. Launching in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Skolkovo Tech will have cutting-edge research and graduate educational programs with experiences in innovation and entrepreneurship wholly integrated. Skolkovo Tech will attract, educate, and engage the best talent from within the Russian Federation and overseas, interacting closely with research laboratories, ventures, and industrial partners, and helping to create a crucible of economic and entrepreneurial activity based on the application of science and technology. Inspired by this vision, the mission of Skolkovo Tech is to have educational, scholarly, and economic impact in the Russian Federation and around the world, by educating leading graduate students and conducting research programs to address key challenges in science, technology, and innovation. Skolkovo Tech will begin offering full-scale MSc and PhD degree programs in the fall of 2014, and by the end of the decade, Skolkovo Tech will have a faculty of over 200 professors, appointed according to international standards and procedures, 300 post-doctoral researchers, and 1200 graduate students. For the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years, Skolkovo Tech will offer pilot education programs, as well as launch research centers and innovation programs.

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs the Director for Faculty Affairs will be working on a multitude of issues related to hiring and managing SkolkovoTech faculty and faculty fellows in close cooperation with Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Primary Responsibilities:

Be a point of contact and process owner on all faculty related issues and processes;
Manage the Faculty searches and hiring process in collaboration with MIT;
Manage the process of developing Faculty policies and procedures in collaboration with MIT and SkolkovoTech senior administrators;
Manage and coordinate Faculty employment related issues with SkolkovoTech HR department;
Manage Faculty Fellows hiring and employment processes;
Monitor compliance with the policies and procedures in order to ensure quality control;
Coordinate academic programs administration with Faculty needs and schedules;
Manage the process of establishing Faculty professional development procedures.

Ideal Experience and Qualifications:

Significant academic experience in a western academic environment;
Faculty appointment/senior faculty is very welcomed;
Significant administrative experience (preferably in academic environment) is highly encouraged;
Demonstrated ability to design and write various policy documents with focus on faculty and faculty development;
Proven project management skills;
Strong general administrative skills;
Deep understanding of Russian academic landscape;
Passion to create a brand new top-quality research university, ability to promote Russian science and technology education to the best international standard;
Profound command of common sense and excellent problem solving skills and attitude;
Good command of Russian language and/or understanding of Russian culture is a big plus;
Ability to travel extensively within and outside Russia.

Remuneration:

The successful candidate will be paid a competitive compensation package commensurate with the important responsibilities of this role in SkolkovoTech.
